Our Philosophy

We design a dispensing solutions that are easy to use, extremely reliable and simple to maintain, with the goal of eliminating all of the known faults with our competitor’s equipment.

Our Capabilities

HMJ tech has developed a unique fabrication technique that allows for cost effective, robust construction with absolute repeatability.  The system ensures that spares and upgrades fit precisely, and it makes customizations and expansions simple.

We are 100% self sufficient for machining, fabrication and assembly. We retain complete control of our designs and our software.  This approach allows us to deliver unrivaled quality and performance.

Our History

HMJ tech Team Members

HMJ tech was started, informally, in 2010. The three founding partners, Hugh Chant, Matthew Smith, and Jonathan Smith, shared a common goal of entering a manufacturing market. All three team members already had extensive experience with machine design, safety, code compliance, and technical project management. Additionally, Hugh had extensive exposure to the dispensing field, as he had previously held a senior engineering & design position at one of our competitors and had participated heavily in developing their products years before.

The company philosophy was simple. Our team recognized if we wanted to be successful, we needed to design a better product that was easy to use, extremely reliable, and simple to maintain. Thus, we focused on technological improvements for hardware, controls, and software to eliminate all known faults with our competitor’s equipment.

Our first fully developed machine to go to market was the A200 dispenser. From day one, our machines included our “patented” valve cleaner system, industrial-grade controls, and flawless multistage dispense valves with a real-time control algorithm. The A200 immediately established a launching point for our company within the ink industry (our first target market).

Since then, we developed our wider format A255 dispenser, our A300 dispenser with 3-Stage valves, and our A355 dispensers for larger batch production (pails and drums). The final step was the development of the A750 factory systems for liquids and pastes. The A750 has been designed as the crown jewel of our product line and has proven to set us apart from our competitors.
Each of our development efforts followed the same strict process, which included the following steps:

  • Identify the needs of the market.
  • Build a detailed design criteria list.
  • Identify areas of uncertainty.
  • Establish and execute tests to mitigate uncertainty.
  • Build and test full prototypes.
  • Field testing.
  • Transition to production
  • Ongoing continuous improvement.

In 2017, Daniel McKenney joined HMJ tech as a shareholder, and as the Director of Sales. Dan had previously worked in sales positions for various companies in the ink and dispensing industries where he developed a long list of trusted client relationships and delivered strong growth to his employers. Dan made it his goal to build client relationships, quote products, and close deals. His efforts have contributed to a strong, consistent growth of sales within HMJ tech.

HMJ tech has experienced strong growth within all our key markets as a result of our goal-oriented approach. Our upward trajectory has required us to move to a newly expanded factory, expand our machine shop, and add additional sales and factory positions to keep up with demand for our products.
